I had a laparoscopic gastrectomy a week and a half ago. Before surgery I smoked hookah every night. I love my hookah. After surgery I haven't smoked since I know it won't help much with recovery. But will it really hurt to just smoke a hookah every few nights from now on?

@trent-solomona-theodore-timo I understand your desire to return to normal life as soon as possible. But as someone who has been through it all, I need to remind you

First of all, smoking is not a good habit for anyone. Secondly, the chemicals in hookah may cause blood vessels to constrict, which is very bad for your wound recovery.

2 weeks is a safe bet. Nicotine can be a vascular constrictive and after surgery your body needs optimal conditions of bloodflow to repair itself.

It's not something you need to quit forever, just get an opinion of your health before you pick it back up.

I used to smoke hookah the day before a surgery under general anesthesia, but I regretted it after the surgery.

If you look at the composition of hookah/shisha, it is half tobacco smoke and half syrup vapor. The half tobacco composition also contains almost no nicotine tar.
However, even so, hookah/shisha is just smoke after all.
It is an irritant and should not actually enter your lungs.
Especially after you have surgery, I am strongly against smoking hookah

Also, generally speaking, the lighter the flavor of hookah/shisha, the stronger the irritation to the lungs,
